Shane discovered alternative medicine quite by accident after an amazing acupuncture treatment that succeeded where Western medicine had failed. His study of Eastern Methods began in 1995 with an internship with acupuncturist Kristy Steinbock in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was an inspiring and wonderful mentor. From that foundation, his belief in Chinese medicine and alternative therapies has grown.
In 1996, he moved to San Francisco, where he received his education from CCA, his foundational bodywork training from the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, and the Fair Oaks Massage Institute. He has completed two additional certifications in Shiatsu and Sports Acupressure from the Acupressure Institute and gone on to study Lomilomi and Zen Shiatsu through private instruction. He also received his third-degree Reiki certification in the Usui Tradition under a wise and compassionate teacher, Mary F. Brady.
Shane's style is a fusion of Acupressure, Shiatsu, Lomilomi, Deep Tissue and Energy Work. Additionally, his personal training background enhances his focus on sports-related injuries and his repertoire of assessment techniques. Shane uses either a fusion of styles, or a more traditional application, depending on the client's need. His bodywork ranges from vigorous and deep to light and soothing, enabling him to address all levels of pain and discomfort.
As a life-long athlete, weight lifter and yoga practitioner, Shane believes that bodywork and acupressure are beneficial both as preventative medicine and as potent tools for helping the body to heal from disease and stress. They are also a useful complement to Western medicine.
